NASHUA, N.H. – Mount Ida's men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the Daniel Webster Invitational on Friday afternoon. The women took a fourth place finish in the seven-team field, while the men's team finished in the seventh position.
Leading the Mustangs in the women's race, which was a 5K event, was junior Emily Bernotas (Sunderland, Mass.), who took a 12th place finish by running a time of 23:55. Also running well and placing 19th of the 50 runners was senior Amelia Bothel (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), who finished in 24:41.
Anna Hogle (New Lebanon, N.Y.) took 26th place, completing the course in 25:23, while Kirsten Guerrero (Fairfield, Conn.) and Molly Shephard (Brookhaven, N.Y.) rounded out the Mount Ida scorers with 35th and 36th place finishes, respectively.
Rivier took the women's title with a total of 38 points. The Mustangs had 113 points, coming in behind Emerson and Wheelock.
On the men's side, Wyatt Sullivan's (Arlington, Mass.) 36th place was the top Mount Ida place. Sullivan ran the 8K course in 37:24, while senior JT Hoyt (Westfield, Mass.) place 44thin the 50 runner field with a 41:04 showing.
Rivier doubled up their winning on the men's side by scoring 52 points, just two points clear of second placed Emerson.
Next up for the Mustangs is a September 21st trip to Dartmouth for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
