CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Mount Ida College continued their hot start to the 2015 season with a second straight three-set victory, beating host Pine Manor College 3-0 on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Mustangs prevailed by set scores of 25-13, 25-18, and 25-22, improving to 2-0 on the year, while the Gators dropped to 0-2.
Mary Kate Reidy (Agawam, Mass.) led the Mustangs with seven kills, while freshman Kristy Walton (Fairhaven, Mass.) turned in a five-kill and four ace performance.
The Mustangs served 18 aces in the match, getting five apiece from Taylor Davis (Machiasport, Maine) and Alysha Dunbar (Quincy, Mass.).
Davis also led the team with eight assists, as seven different players on the squad helped set up points.
Senior Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) led the team with seven digs to go with her three kills, while Molly Alkinburg (Port Deposit, Md.) posted four kills and a block and a half.
The Gators got four kills apiece from Natasia Franklin and Mary Owen, and seven assists from Ashley Whiteshield.
Mount Ida travels to Vermont this Saturday for a 4:00 pm game against Lyndon State.
Pine Manor heads to a tri-match on Saturday against Bay Path and Johnson State.
