Koolman Earns Second Defensive Award of the Season

NEWTON, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Mount Ida College sophomore libero Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Koolman averaged seven digs per set in a week that saw Mount Ida pick up a five-set victory at home over Newbury.

In that victory, Koolman served ten service aces, including a run of five consecutive points via ace, while also leading all players with 25 digs.

Koolman collected 21 more digs in a conference game against Norwich as part of Saturday's tri-match, and for the week she totalled 16 service aces and 100 digs.

The Mustangs have two games at home this week, starting Tuesday night when they welcome in UMass Dartmouth for a 6:00 pm contest.
