CRAIG MARTIN HIRED AS NEW WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH

Following the retirement of 10 year Mount Ida College women’s volleyball head coach Skip Tately, Intramural Director and men’s volleyball head coach Craig Martin will take the reins of the program effective immediately.  Martin was named head men’s volleyball coach during this past summer.

“I’m very excited to take over as the women’s volleyball coach at Mount Ida College,” said Martin.  “Coach Tately has done a great job over the last 10 seasons and I see a lot of potential in this program for continued growth.  I look forward to getting to know the current squad of players and helping them achieve their goals as well as getting out onto the recruiting trail to continue to bring quality athletes to Mount Ida for the future.”

Martin joins the Mustangs following a six year stint as assistant coach with the four-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion Rivier College Raiders men’s volleyball program.   Martin has assisted in all duties including not just coaching but recruiting and student academic advising. 

Martin was part of all four consecutive GNAC titles from 2008-2011 with the men’s program as well as a Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) national title in 2006.  Martin was also serving as the athletic department’s Sports Information Director during his tenure with the Raiders covering all 13 varsity sports.   

Martin was also the assistant coach with the women’s volleyball team at Rivier aiding in two GNAC championship title is 2007 and 2008 as well as two NCAA tournament appearance in those same years.
