WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS 3-2 IN BACK END OF TRI-MATCH

In the final bid of Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match, the Mount Ida College women's volleyball program fell to visiting Simmons College in a tight 3-2 loss by scores of 25-20, 28-26, 23-25, 19-25 and 7-15 to go 0-2 on the day after a loss to Rivier College to start the day in Newton, Massachusetts. 

The Mustangs fall to an overall record of 12-12, 4-7 in league play with two very important conference matches coming up this week with play-off implications. 

After capturing the first two games of the match, Mount Ida dropped the final three games for the disappointing 3-2 loss.

The Mustangs were led by junior hitter Jennifer Ferreira (Shirley, MA/Ayer) with nine kills while adding 20 digs in the back row.  Freshman Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford) tallied three service aces.  Senior captain and setter Cody Fusco (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco Waldorf) dished out 19 assists.

For the Sharks, sophomore Taylor Nisbet (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) led the offense with 12 kills.  Junior Kelly Last (West Haven, CT/West Haven) added 26 digs in the back row for the visitors while sophomore Kina Wilbur Kamien (Salem, NH/Salem) chipped in four service aces.  Junior Rachel Dufault (Westport, MA/Westport) dished out 38 assists.

The Mustangs will travel to non-league Babson College Thursday evening with game time slated for 7:00 p.m.
