Thursday, October 6, 2011(Newton, Massachusetts) - The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team captured a 3-0 non-conference victory over visiting Daniel Webster College Thursday evening in Newton, Massachusetts by scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-21. 

The Mustangs capture their third straight win improving to an overall record of 10-7 with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) slate of 3-2. 

The visitors drop only their third loss of the season with a 2011 record of 11-4 standing at 2-0 in the New England Collegiate College (NECC). 

The Mustangs were led by senior captain Rachelle Gilbert (Corunna, IN/Dekalb) offensively with 12 kills, 13 digs, and three service aces. Mount Ida freshman Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford) dished out 14 assists to lead the Mustangs.

The visitors were led by junior Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, MA/Westfield) with 11 kills while senior libero Amanda Wilson (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) added 16 digs.  Senior setter Caitlyn DePierro (Billerica, MA/Billerica) dished out 20 assists as well.

The Mustangs will host GNAC member Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon with game time slated for 1:00 p.m. on Dig Pink day while the Eagles will play at Pine Manor College on the same day and same time.
