WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS 3-2 TO WILDCATS IN GNAC PLAY

The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team dropped their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss to visiting GNAC foe Johnson & Wales University, 3-2, by scores of 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-25, and 13-15 on Saturday in Newton, Massachusetts.  The Mustangs drop to and 8-5 overall record going 1-2 in conference competition while the Wildcats improve to 8-6 and a perfect 4-0 in the GNAC.

After dropping game one 20-25, the Mustangs came right back to take the lead with victories in game's two and three by scores of 25-18 and 25-22.  The Wildcats would not back down capturing a commanding 25-15 win in game four sending the match into a fifth and final match.  The Mustangs led 11-4 in the final set only to watch their lead vanish after some high powered JWU offense falling in the fifth by a score of 15-13.

The Mustangs were led by sophomore Jennifer Ferreira (Shirley, MA/Ayer) offensively with eight kills followed by fellow sophomore middle blocker Christine Gallart (Germantown, MD/St. John's College HS) with three solo blocks.  Senior's Chelsea Darnell (Dublin, OH/Dublin Scoito) and Kira Feeter (Keene, NH/Keene) were also solid in the effort with Darnell chipping in nine digs while Feeter dished out 17 assists.

The Mustangs will host non-conference Lesley University Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.
