The Mount Ida College women's volleyball team traveled to Clark University this past Thursday night winning 3-1 by scores of 25-18, 21-25, 24-26, and 24-26. The Mustangs would improve to 5-7 overall while the Cougars dropped to 3-6 on the season.
Although the hosts took a 25-18 game one win, the Mustangs rolled to three straight victories (25-21, 26-24, and 26-24) to capture their fifth triumph of the season. Mount Ida women's volleyball is now on a three game winning streak coming into today's game against Lesley to whom they have never lost holding a 14-0 record against the Lynx in their history together.
Mount Ida top performers were sophomore Chelsea Darnell (Dublin, OH/Dublin Scioto) and senior captain Blair Canan (North Reading, MA/North Reading) who combined for 25 kills and six service aces, Darnell would also tally 17 digs in the victory. Freshman Rachelle Gilbert (Corunna, IN/Dekalb) recorded eight kills of her own on 25 attack attempts.
Sophomore Kira Feeter (Keene, NH/Keene) and freshman Cody Fusco (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco Waldorf) combined 27 assists with Feeter chipping in two service aces. Senior captains Canan and Stephanie Saito (West Linn, OR/West Linn) added 18 digs a piece.
The Mustangs will host Lesley University this Saturday at Mount Ida Athletic Center starting at 1:00 p.m.
