The Mount Ida College Women’s Volleyball Team hosted their
first tri-match for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
on the campus of MIC today. The first match-up was against the
Monks from St. Joseph’s of Maine and the Mustangs for a 10:00
a.m. start.
Ida dominated the whole match winning by scores of 30-18, 30-17,
and 30-15. There was outstanding individual performance by everyone
on the Mustang side to chalk up there first win in their new
conference. This win continues the unbeaten streak in conference
play for MIC at 35 games, carrying over into the GNAC with their
new opponents.
The Mustangs got some great performances from senior captain
Adrienne Xenos (Brockton, MA/Brockton)
who was a force in the middle with a solo block and a block assist.
Sophomore Amanda Pereira (New Bedford, MA/New
Bedford) and Chelsea Darnell (Dublin,
OH/Dublin Scioto) blasted seven kills a piece.
Freshman standout Kira Feeter (Keene,
NH/Keene) had 11 assists, five aces, eight digs and
Captain Stephaine Saito (West Linn, OR/West
Linn) had 13 assists and 11 digs.
St. Joseph’s will face Johnson & Wales University for the
2nd match of the day, and Mount Ida College will take the night cap
against the Wildcats from J & W at 2:00 p.m. immediately
following.
