The Mount Ida Women’s Volleyball Team had a tough match-up
tonight against Western Connecticut State University. The Mustangs
came out blazing winning the first two games of the match winning
30-20 and 30-19, but the Colonials refused to go quietly winning
game three 22-30. MIC sealed it in game four, 30-24, with some
outstanding performances by newcomers and great veteran
leadership.
Senior captain and middle hitter Adrienne Xenos
(Brockton, MA/Brockton) had an outstanding game
upfront with six kills and helped keep the morale of the team
steady and focused. The player of the night for the Mustangs was
Chelsea Darnell (Dublin, OH/Dublin
Scioto) with a whopping 12 kills, 20 digs, and three
service aces. Cherie Parisi (S. Attleboro,
MA/Attleboro) chipped in five kills and sophomore
Amanda Pereira (New Bedford, MA/New
Bedford) added seven.
Sophomore defensive specialist Megan Svendsen
(Sebastopol, CA/Analy) had an outstanding game with
21 digs. Freshman Kira Feeter (Keene,
NH/Keene) set her teammates up with 22 assists and
Junior captain Stephanie Saito (West Linn, OR/West
Linn) chipped in 20 assists.
The Mustangs will travel down the street to Babson College this
Thursday September 13, 2007 for a 6:00 p.m. start.
