Ton Tallies Six Points As Men's Lacrosse Posts 15-5 GNAC Victory Over Regis

NEWTON, Mass. --  Junior Kyle Ton (Norwich, Conn.) notched a hat trick and three assists for six points to lead Mount Ida to a 15-5 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse victory over Regis Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.

 

The host Mustangs (6-7, 5-1 GNAC) jumped out to an 11-0 advantage at the break on the strength Ton’s three tallies as well as two goals each off the sticks of senior Marcus Donahue (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Dakari Eason (Norwalk, Conn.), as the latter finished the night with a hat trick and two assists of his own.  Freshman Mike Alibrandi (Holliston, Mass.) added two markers and a pair of helpers for four points for Mount Ida, which received a three-point performance from Donahue.  Junior Owen LaPorte (Farmington, Conn.) chipped in with two goals for the winners, who received a goal and an assist from junior Dylan DiLena (Barre, Vt.) along with single tallies from junior Jacob Gordon (Niantic, Conn.) and freshman Roman Dennis (Lewiston, Maine).  Seniors Joe Gengarelly (Sag Harbor, N.Y.) and Derek Polish (Bow, N.H.), along with junior Eric Walker (Newington, Conn.), each collected assists for the Mustangs, who remain tied in the loss column for the top spot in the league standings.

 

Freshman Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and two assists to finish with four points in the setback for the visiting Pride (3-10, 1-6 GNAC), which received two tallies and a helper from freshman Brent Young (Feeding Hills, Mass.).  Freshman Nick Penta (Andover, Mass.) added a marker and an assist for Regis, which also received a helper off the stick of senior Collin Spillane (Franklin, Mass.).

 

Senior Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) picked up his sixth win of the season by making five saves in 39-plus minutes of play in goal for Mount Ida, which received a fourth quarter save from freshman Andrew Costa (North Providence, R.I.).  Freshman JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H.) made 21 stops in the setback for Regis, as the Mustangs outshot the Pride by a 50-16 margin overall (36-11 on goal) and held a 12-9 advantage in the face-off circle for the contest.

 

Mount Ida hosts Anna Maria in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Regis entertains Johnson & Wales in a GNAC clash on Saturday afternoon in Weston, Mass. that also begins at 1:00 p.m.
