Donahue, Hayward Named As 2018 Mustang Men's Lacrosse Co-Captains

The Mount Ida men’s lacrosse team is looking to make another run at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship this spring, and veteran Head Coach Andrew Fink will look to a pair of veterans to lead the way in 2018 after tabbing seniors Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) and Marcus Donahue (Braintree, Mass./Blue Hills) to serve as Mustang co-captains.

Hayward earned second team all-GNAC honors in goal last season after sporting an 8.58 goals against average to go with 230 saves, while Donahue leads a talented midfield corps for Mount Ida after netting 31 goals and 16 assists for 47 points in 2017.   Fink, who has won 163 contests entering his 15th campaign, describes the duo as “two of the most competitive players we have, but they always have the team’s best interests first.  Both of them know that expectations are always high for themselves and their teammates, and they are ready to lead both on and off the field.”

The Mustangs, who finished with 14 victories and fell in the GNAC championship match by a goal last spring, begin their new season on Wednesday, February 28th by heading into Boston to square off with Emerson in a non-league contest at 4:00 p.m. EST.
