Two from Second Seeded Mustangs Named All-Conference

WINTHROP, Mass. – Two members of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse finalists Mount Ida College roster have been selected for All-Conference recognition, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Sophomore midfielder Chad Coehlo (Salem, Mass.) and senior defenseman Kyle Fernitz (Northbrook, Ill.) were both named to the GNAC Second Team for their work during the 2015 campaign.

Coehlo was in the top ten in the conference in assists, setting up 15 goals while also scoring 11 times himself. He picked up 18 ground balls in the 16 games in which he played, and also caused six turnovers for the Mustangs.

Fernitz caused 18 turnovers this season to help a Mount Ida team that was third in the conference in the category, with 180. He also grabbed 35 ground balls and had two assists in his final season wearing the Green and White.

This is the first All-Conference selection for either Fernitz or Coehlo.

In addition, Mount Ida junior attack Trevor Hendrix (Grafton, Mass.) was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Mustangs posted a 7-1 GNAC record this year and earned the #2 seed in the conference tournament. They came from behind on five occassions to beat Norwich 6-5 in the semifinals at Alumni Field and made their fourth conference final appearance in the last five years. Along the way, the Mustangs also posted a ten-game winning streak.

The GNAC All-Conference teams are voted on by each of the head coaches from the conference.
