Cordaro is Top GNAC Goalie to Open 2014

NEWTON, Mass. -- Fresh off of leading the Mustangs to their first victory of the 2014, senior Kyle Cordaro (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse Goalie of the Week.

The awards were announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and commissioner Joe Walsh.

Cordaro made 15 stops and allowed just 2 goals on Saturday as Mount Ida defeated Southern Maine 6-2 to even their season record at 1-1.

Earlier in the week, the senior netminder made 21 saves, keeping Mount Ida in the game against a difficult opponent in Salve Regina. Cordaro allowed just five goals through the first forty-five minutes of play against the Seahawks, keeping Mount Ida within striking distance, where the Mustangs tied the game at two before succumbing to an 11-4 defeat.

Cordaro will lead the Mustangs into another home game this week, as Mount Ida entertains Salem State on Wednesday at 3:30 pm at Alumni Field.
