SAUNDERS NETS THREE GOALS, MUSTANGS CRUISE TO 22-2 WIN

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 (Boston, Massachusetts) - After falling in a very close 7-6 loss to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe and neighboring rival Lasell College last Saturday, the Mount Ida College men's lacrosse team crushed hosting league member Emerson College Wednesday evening winning 22-2 in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Mustangs improve to an overall record of 8-4 holding in second place in the GNAC standings at 5-1 while the Lions remain winless (0-7, 0-6 GNAC).

The Mustangs were led by senior attacker Ian Saunders (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) with three goals and three assists.  Senior Zach Jacobson (Shoreview, MN/Moundsview), sophomore's Kyle Danehy (Marlborough, MA/Marlborough) and Zach Rosen (East Greenwich, RI/St. Andrew's School) and freshman Michael Trocchi (Danvers, MA/Danvers) all added two goals each with Trocchi notching two assists as well.  11 other Mount Ida College players tally a goal each led by senior defenseman Riley O'Brien (North Kingstown, RI/North Kingstown) scoring the first of his career.

Freshman netminder Anthony Montelbano (Matawan, NJ/Old Bridge) saw all 60 minutes between the pipes adding eight saves in the victory.

Mount Ida will travel to GNAC member Becker College Saturday afternoon with game time slated for 2:30 p.m.
