MEN'S LAX STAYS PERFECT IN NAC PLAY WITH 15-2 WIN

Eleven different players scored to lead the visiting Mount Ida Mustangs over the Green Mountain College Eagles 15-2 in North Atlantic Conference Men’s Lacrosse action Thursday afternoon.  The Mustangs improve to 8-6 overall and maintain a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play while the Eagles fall to 1-7 (1-5, NAC).

Michael Simone (Dover, NH/St. Thomas Aquinas) scored two of his team-high three goals to open the game and spur a five goal output in the first quarter for the Mustangs.  Mount Ida tallied five more unanswered in the 2nd before Matt Tarricone (Oneonta, NY) put the home side on the board.  Dan Harrington (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) and Brandon Keith (Barnstable, MA/Barnstable) finished the scoring before the halftime interval, giving the visitors a comfortable 11-1 advantage.

The Mustangs tagged on three more in 3rd quarter and one in the fourth while Tarricone notched his second of the contest with just over 14 minutes remaining running the final score-line to 15-2.

Craig Naftal (Bellmore, NY/JFK) picked up the win in goal for Mount Ida, stopping three shots in 30 minutes of action while Chandler Webb (Quincy, MA/Bishop Hendricken (RI)) notched seven saves over the final two quarters.

Keith Drinkwine (Delmar, NY) made seven stops in the losing effort for the Eagles.

The Mustangs outshot Green Mountain 31-17 on the afternoon and held a commanding 15-5 edge in face-offs.

Mount Ida men's lacrosse will travel to Maine Maritime Academy Saturday afternoon for another Conference match-up starting at 1:00 p.m.
