Minich was named Defensive Coordinator and Director of Football Operations in 2013 after four seasons as Defensive Backs Coach. In 2014, he directed a defensive back corps that led the country in defensive passing efficiency and opponents passing yards allowed per game. In the last two years, he has presided over a Mount Ida defense that has placed fifteen players on the All-Conference team, and saw defensive back Jovan Wilkins break the Mount Ida record for career interceptions, with 14 in just three seasons.
Minich came to the Mustangs from South Dakota State University where he served as a graduate assistant and was assigned to coach the tight ends and running backs. He was responsible for game day operations, scouting reports, film review, and the academic performance of the student athletes. In his last year with the program, South Dakota State won the Great West Football Conference (GWFC) Championship.
His playing experience dates back to 2002, while studying for his associates degree at Minnesota West. He was a two-time recipient of the conference academic award and voted Mr. Hustle as a sophomore.
Minich will be working as the academic advisor to the football team. His academic background is impressive. While a baccalaureate student, he was a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, and National Scholars Honor Society. Minich studied abroad at Oxford University in Great Britain for a semester.
Minich received his Associate Degree at Minnesota West in 2004 and his Bachelor's of Science degree from SDSU in 2006. In 2008 he completed a Master's of Science degree from SDSU graduating magna cum laude.
Minich resides in Norton, Mass. with his wife Caroline and also serves as an adjunct professor of psychology at Mount Ida College.
