MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its All-Academic team for the 2016 season on Thursday afternoon, and three members of the Mount Ida College program were recognized.
Senior James Wolff (Yorktown, N.Y.), sophomore Andrew Light (Absecon, N.J.) and sophomore Jack Sheehan (St. Petersburg, Fla.) all were recognized for their excellence in the classroom. It was the first time eligible for Light and Sheehan, while Wolff has now been honored in each of his three years of eligibility.
To be eligible for the ECFC All-Academic team a student-athlete must have earned a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.3 or higher in the 2016 fall semester while minimally being a sophomore in standing with two years of participation on the football team.
Wolff, a standout member of the offensive line, capped his Mount Ida career by being named to the ECFC All-Conference Second Team this past season.
Sheehan, a business major, threw for 1,341 yards and 11 touchdowns while also rushing for five scores in his second season as the Mustang signal caller.
Light, a tight end, appeared in four games for Mount Ida, catching seven passes for 53 yards and is working towards a degree in Childhood Education.
69 student-athletes were recognized with representatives from all eight ECFC institutions. Norwich University led the way with18 honorees.
