NEWTON, Mass. -- Senior Matt Greenman (Portsmouth, R.I.) made a pair of highlight plays this weekend and now has been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) as the Special Teams Player of the Week in the final weekly awards of the 2016 season.
Greenman accounted for two touchdowns as Mount Ida College (4-6, 4-3 ECFC) finished their season with a 54-20 loss to conference champion Husson University. He sparked the teams with their first points of the game late in the first half when he took a kickoff 85 yards to the end zone.
At the end of the third quarter, Greenman sped down the right sideline and caught an 81 yard pass from sophomore quarterback Jack Sheehan (St. Petersburg, Fla.) for his second touchdown of the game.
On the day, he returned five kicks for 141 yards, averaging 28.2 yards per return and accounted for 228 total yards of offense.
One of 12 seniors honored before Saturday's game, Greenman ends his career as one of the most potent offensive and special teams threats to wear a Mustang uniform. He is the program leader in punt return average, in the top five in career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, and is likely to earn his fourth straight All-Conference nod this season.
