NEWTON, Mass. – Four members of the Mount Ida football team have been named to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) All – Academic team, announced by the ECFC office this week.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing, have participated a minimum of two years, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above.
A total of 75 student-athletes were recognized throughout the eight member schools of the ECFC. Norwich led the conference with 19 qualifiers with Anna Maria College and Husson University each with 16. Castleton University listed 11 student-athletes followed by Maritime (N.Y.) with five, Mount Ida College with four, and Becker College with two.
Of the four student-athletes honored by the ECFC, three of the four Mustangs are first time honorees.
Mount Ida senior wide receiver Zach Samiljan (Sparta, N.J.) and senior defensive back Tyree Singletary (Newark, N.J.) as well as sophomore Christopher Medeiros (Pelham, N.H.).
Junior James Wolff (Yorktown, N.Y.) was named to the team for the second straight season.
