Melquawn Pinkney to play in the Globe Bowl

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior running back Melquawn Pinkney (Springfield, Mass.) has been selected to represent Mount Ida College in the 2nd annual 2016 Globe Bowl presented by the National Bowl event company. 

The Globe Bowl, the only post-season Spring College Football all-star game consisting of top All-American and All-Conference seniors from FCS, D2, D3, and pro free agents, will be played at Salisbury High School Football Stadium in Allentown, PA on Sunday April 3, 2016 at 10:30am with practices at Hokey AA's Bob Warke Field in Whitehall, PA starting April 1st. 

A two-time All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) selection, Pinkney finished his career with 2,463 rushing yards, good for third all-time, and 19 rushing touchdowns, the fourth most by a Mustang back. In his senior season, he set a new personal best with eight rushing touchdowns and averaged 4.2 yards per carry on the ground, gaining 751 yards over the ten game slate. 

The Globe Bowl weekend will start on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Game Time FieldHouse-Velocity in Breinigsville, PA at 10:00am with the 6th annual National Pro Day Scouting Combine. Official game time of the 2nd annual Globe Bowl is 10:30am on Sunday April 3, 2016 at Salisbury TWP High School Stadium.

The Globe Bowl's focus is a global game focused on other leagues besides the NFL in the USA and abroad. The Globe Bowl will be attended by the Canadian Football League's (CFL) Montreal Alouettes and 5 pro arena teams including the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and the Cental Penn Capital's General Manager Kevin O'Hanlon. This year Pro Russian football Scout and Coach Bobby Rome will be in attendance and assist in coaching and advice to players looking to play pro in Europe. Several of last year's players are currently playing abroad in Italy, German, and Australia.


The 2016 Globe Bowl will be head coached by James Parham, former Offensive Line/ Defensive Line Coach of the Trenton Freedom and Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and National Bowl Defensive Coordinator and New York Giants Coach of the Week Jim Collins." Additional Assistant Coaches include local coach Chris Drayton of the Lehigh Valley Steelers and former Steelhawks Chad Clark and Alan Stokes.
