DANBURY, Conn. -- For the second straight season, Mount Ida College linebacker Sean Chinova (Watertown, Conn.) has been selected as a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Football North All-Star Team.
Chinova was selected to the 2015 First Team, which was voted on by representatives from the region's member institutions, after being named a Second Team member in 2014.
The leader on the team in tackles with 111, Chinova was second in the conference in that same category, and led the league with 20.5 tackles for a loss, 6.5 more than the next closest player. The junior linebacker also had two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during this past season.
In the Mustang's 43-12 win over Gallaudet, Chinova had an interception, two pass breakups, one sack and four tackles for loss.
A two-time member of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) First Team, Chinova was recognized by Mount Ida's athletic department as the 2014-15 Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.
Matt Silva from Framingham State University collected the award for 2015 ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Springfield's Max Nacewicz garnered Defensive Player of the Year honors. Adis Ojeda from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was tabbed as the Offensive Rookie of the Year following a record-setting first season for the Engineers, and Endicott College's William Rivera received the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Western New England University Head Coach Keith Emery was voted as the Coach of the Year by his peers within the region.
