Sheehan Tabbed as ECFC's Top Rookie this Week

NEWTON, Mass. -- Freshman quarterback Jack Sheehan (St. Petersburg, Fla.) has been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) after leading the Mustangs to a win in their conference opener.

The first year signal caller has been named the ECFC Rookie of the Week, the first Mount Ida football player honored by the conference in the 2015 season.

Sheehan tossed three touchdowns in a 42-13 ECFC victory over Gallaudet, accumulating 184 yards through the air while completing 12 of 19 passes. Sheehan put the Mustangs on top early with a 14-yard swing pass to give Mount Ida a 6-0 lead and threw his second touchdown with just two seconds left in the first half to extend that advantage.

So far this year, Sheehan has thrown for 560 yards and four touchdowns.

After a three-game homestand, Mount Ida will hit the road again this weekend for their second ECFC game, a 1:00 pm matchup with in Vermont against Castleton.
