CENTERVILLE, Mass. — Junior defensive back Jovan Wilkins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) was voted to the First Team of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Football North All-Star selections.
The teams, announced on Thursday afternoon by the ECAC office, were selected from a pool of 41 institutions across seven conferences, and the voting is completed by the head coaches within the Division III Football North membership.
Wilkins, who was also named to the First Team of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) for the third consecutive season, was arguably one of the most difficult player to throw against in the region. He picked off five passes and forced a conference-leading four fumbles during the year, while collecting 62 tackles.
Wilkins also had five break-ups and blocked a kick for the Mustangs, while also getting into the backfield to record a sack and five tackles for a loss of 18 yards.
The Mustangs finished their season with a record of 5-5 and, with the help of Wilkins, led the nation in passing defense, allowing just 89.1 yards per game.
