Neil Hitchen has recently been hired as the Offensive Coordinator for the Mount Ida College football program under the direction of fifth year Head Coach Michael Landers.
Hitchen comes to the Mustangs with a plethora of coaching experience most recently at New England Football Conference (NEFC) member Bridgewater State University as the Pass Game Coordinator focusing primarily with the quarterbacks and wide receivers last year (2011).
Before his one year stint with the Bears, Hitchen was the Director of Football Operations at Ivy League member Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island from August 2010 to May 2011. Hitchen worked closely as a Defensive Assistant focusing his time with the defensive backs. He also worked with the Bears kicker who would be ranked first in the Ivy League for field goals and points per game at season's end.
Before his time at Brown, Hitchen was the Offensive Coordinator from 2008 to 2010 with Division III and NEFC member Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. He was the quarterback coach helping to increase the total offense by 120 yards more a game adding 10 points a game to the scoreboard as well.
Hitchen spent time as a Graduate Assistant (GA) in three different capacities in Division I football. He was the Defensive GA at Louisiana Tech University through 2008. He was also the Offensive GA at the University of Central Florida from September 2007 to February 2008. Hitchen spent time at Colorado State University from 2005 to 2007 as a wide receivers GA as well.
Early in his career, Hitchen's spent time coaching in many different areas of Division III football with one year stints at Norwich University, Salve Regina University, Bowdoin College and Endicott College from 1999 to 2004.
Hitchen graduated from Assumption College in 1998 with a degree in History with a minor in English. He would go on to get his Master's degree from Salve Regina University in 2010 in Management.
Hitchen resides in Portsmouth, Rhode Island with his wife and children.
