Suffolk Sweeps by Mustangs in GNAC Action

BOSTON, Mass. – In a home match for Mount Ida played at Suffolk University, the Mustangs dropped a 9-0 decision to the Rams in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's tennis action on Wednesday night.

The Mustangs fall to 0-7 on the year (0-3 GNAC), while Suffolk gets their record back to .500 at 5-5 (3-1 GNAC).

Freshman Rebecca Levy (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior Patti-Ann Doucette (Lynn, Mass.) suffered an 8-2 decision at first doubles to the tandem of Aidiana Sagyndykova (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.). Sagyndykova collected a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Levy at first singles, while Garrett beat Doucette in straight sets at the second singles spot.

Mount Ida was able to take a game at third doubles as well, through the duo of Yuliana Chairez (Waltham, Mass.) and Rose Schneider (Lowell, Mass.). They battled Isabel Rathlev (Wellesley, Mass.) and Jacqueline Nakamura (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.), with Rathlev also slotting in at fifth singles, and taking care of Chairez in straight sets.

Schneider dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision at sixth singles to Suffolk's Anna Gleason (Plymouth, Mass.).

Suffok's Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) was also responsible for a pair of points for the Rams, as she beat Victoria Messinger (Southbury, Conn.) 6-1, 6-0 at third singles and teamed with Abby Trigilio (Ipswich, Mass.) to beat Messinger and Kaytlen Putnam (Falmouth, Mass.) 8-0 at second doubles.

Putnam also suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss at #4 singles, to Suffolk junior Lyndsay Reese (Saco, Me.).

Mount Ida hosts Simmons on Friday at 3:00 pm in a GNAC match rescheduled from October 1st.

The Rams will travel to Anna Maria this Saturday for a  12:00 pm conference tilt.
