WOMEN'S TENNIS ROLLS TO 7-2 WIN OVER EASTERN NAZARENE

The Mount Ida College women's tennis team captured another non-conference victory this past Monday over visiting Eastern Nazarene College winning 7-2.  The Mustangs, who are now 4-1 overall, capture their second consecutive win of 2011 under the direction of first year head coach Dan Munsey.

For the second straight match Mount Ida freshman Elizabeth Olszweski (Granville, MA), sophomore Kayla Horton (Brockton, MA), junior Elyse Horton (Brockton, MA), and sophomore Nanouma Joachin (Lynn, MA) captured singles victories. 

Olszewski, who hasn't lost yet this season in singles or doubles, rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Lion junior Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, NH). 

Kayla Horton defeated Eastern Nazarene junior Samantha Jones (Marion, MA) in straight set shut outs 6-0, 6-0 while Elyse Horton knocked off senior Alison Cornell (Bolton, CT) by scores of 6-0, 6-3.

Joachin, who rejoined the team recently, won her second straight singles match over Lion junior Monica Gonzalez (Somerville, MA) by scores of 6-1, 6-2.

Mount Ida swept in doubles for the second consecutive match with Warner and Olszewski defeating Lemire and Sleeper winning 8-6.

The Horton sisters dominated an 8-2 win over Jones and Nelson while Mustang junior Melissa Smith (Warren, CT) and Joachin defeated sophomore Juju Atwater (Weymouth, MA) and Cornell 9-7.

The Mustangs will close a season opening six match home stand this Saturday when they host GNAC foe Emerson College starting at 12:00 p.m.
