The Mount Ida College women's tennis team dropped their third consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to GNAC powerhouse Simmons College 9-0 this past Saturday. Mustang women's tennis falls to 1-4 overall, 1-3 in conference play.
Simmons has been the GNAC champion for the past few years as well as earning births into the NCAA tournament. Doubles got started first and Mount Ida junior captain Jessica Lindquist (Killingworth, CT/Killingworth-Haddam) and freshman Amy Warner (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) played well implementing their strategy but only able to manage a game in an 8-1 loss. Number two and three doubles fell 8-2 and Simmons jumped out to a 3-0 match lead. Lindquist lost her singles match although she fought valiantly in her effort as well as every other Mustang tennis player throughout the day.
"This is a very good team and we played as well as our ability allowed at this point in our young program", said Mount Ida Head Coach John Nestel.
