The Mount Ida College women's soccer team dropped their second consecutive loss of the season and their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest by a score of 7-0 to hosting St. Joseph College (CT) Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut. The Mustangs fall to 1-2 overall and now stand at 0-1 in conference competition.
Mount Ida gave up the goals in bunches starting in the 21st minute of play during the first half when the Blue Jays netted their first score of the game. At the 32nd minute the score was 3-0 in favor of the visitors.
The Mustangs gave up three more very quickly towards the end of the second half starting at the 75th minute making it 4-0. By the 82nd minute it was 6-0. The visitors notched one more goal in the 88th minute of play handing Mount Ida a 7-0 loss in GNAC play.
Mustang goaltender Samantha Costello (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) notched a record breaking 26 saves in the contest while her team was only able to get off seven shots for the contest.
