Kelly Named As GNAC Corvias Women's Lacrosse Player Of The Week

Mount Ida junior midfielder Alyssa Kelly was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the third time in her career on Monday afternoon after amassing 27 points in three Mustang victories last week.

A native of Lee, Mass. and a graduate of Lee High School, Kelly netted 17 goals and 10 assists for 27 points in the three outings, as she tied her own school single-match record with 12 points (eight goals, four assists) in a 20-9 victory over Rivier last Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.  Alyssa collected 10 points (six markers, four helpers) in a 22-8 triumph at Albertus Magnus last Tuesday evening and added a hat trick and two assists in a 15-3 non-league win at Becker last Thursday night.

Kelly leads Mount Ida and the GNAC in scoring with 32 goals and 22 assists for 54 points, as she entered last weekend ranked third nationally in NCAA Division III play in points per game.  Alyssa, who stands 31 points shy of breaking the Mustang career scoring mark, has amassed 165 goals and a school-record 73 assists in just 42 games played during her career.

Mount Ida, which stands at 5-1 overall and 2-0 in GNAC play, returns to action on Tuesday evening when Head Coach Nicole Poli’s squad entertains Emmanuel in a conference clash at Alumni Field at 6:00 pm EDT.
