Mount Ida senior Eleanor Garvey was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Women’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon for her efforts in three Mustang victories last week.
A native of Elkridge, Md. and a graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, Garvey posted a 6.67 goals against average and a .545 saves percentage for Head Coach Nicole Poli’s squad, as she made 11 saves in a 20-9 victory over Rivier last Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field to go with eight stops in a 22-8 triumph at Albertus Magnus last Tuesday evening. Eleanor added five more saves in a 15-3 win at Becker last Thursday night and leads the league in saves percentage (.550) while ranking second in goals against average (7.50).
Garvey also copped the GNAC accolade back on March 5th after recording 30 saves in two contests, including 21 stops in the season-opening 15-7 victory at Wentworth on February 28th.
Mount Ida, which stands at 5-1 overall and 2-0 in GNAC play, returns to action on Tuesday evening when the Mustangs entertain Emmanuel in a GNAC clash at Alumni Field beginning at 6:00 pm EDT.
