NEWTON, Mass. -- Junior Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) netted five goals and four assists to lead Mount Ida to a 19-0 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Dean Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Senior Emily McConnell (Dracut, Mass.) and junior Brooke Scahill (Gales Ferry, Conn.) each added hat tricks and an assist for four points for the host Mustangs (2-1), who jumped out to a 12-0 advantage at the break. Freshman Jordyn Ringuette (Colchester, Conn.) tallied twice and added two helpers as well for the winners, who received a pair of markers from freshman Mia Tsoukalas (Rowley, Mass.). Freshman Zoey Tate (Yonkers, N.Y.) collected a goal and three assists for Mount Ida, which received tallies off the sticks of senior Sarah Hemstock (Northford, Conn.), sophomore Meghan Sargent (Brattleboro, Vt.) and freshman Danielle Blackmore (Oxford, Mass.).
Senior Eleanor Garvey (Elkridge, Md.) made one save in picking up the win in goal for Mount Ida, while freshman Na’Neq Holley (Griffin, Ga.) made 11 stops in net in the season opener for the visiting Bulldogs (0-1). The Mustangs recorded 45 of the 46 total shots in the contest and held a 17-3 edge in draw controls for the contest.
Mount Ida heads to New Haven, Conn. on Tuesday evening to take on Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference clash that begins at 6:00 p.m., while Dean hosts Rhode Island College in a non-league outing on Monday afternoon in Franklin, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
