NEWTON, Mass. – Mount Ida College women's lacrosse is riding a four-game winning streak, and is currently in the midst of the best start to a season in program history, as they improve to 7-1 with a 19-10 victory over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The Mustangs have already posted the most wins since the 2011 season and are undefeated on their home turf (4-0).
Sophomore Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) scored eight times for the Mustangs, and now has 37 goals on the season. She was part of a Mount Ida attack that outscored the Chargers 9-2 in the second half to break open a two-goal game at 10-8 and turn it into a rout for the home team.
Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) scored four goals for the visitors, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead before a natural hat trick within two minutes from Kelly put Mount Ida up 3-2.
Brooke Scahill (Ledyard, Conn.) added the first of her four goals and six points, but the Chargers tied the game at four through goals by Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Molly Mulcahy (Nashua, N.H.), who each had multiple point days.
Scahill had six draw controls and six ground balls for Mount Ida and she scored the first of six straight goals in the second half that put the Mustangs up 16-8, capped by Kelly's seventh goal of the game on a free-position shot.
Hayley Napier (Fairhaven, Mass.) had two goals and an assist in the win, while Nicole Pavao (Peabody, Mass.) and Meghan Sargent (Brattleboro, Vt.) each scored twice.

Colby-Sawyer (3-2) returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Friday with a 1:30 PM home game against Husson University.
Mount Ida looks to keep rolling with a return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday when they head to Rivier University for a 1:00 PM matchup.
