Kelly Named Top GNAC Rookie For Second Consecutive Week

NEWTON, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, Mount Ida freshman midfielder Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for yet again another stellar week.

Kelly and the Mustangs were .500 last week as they went 1-1 with a 17-11 victory over Becker College and then suffered a setback to Regis on Saturday afternoon in the Mustangs season opener on Alumni Field.

In the non-conference clash against the Hawks, Kelly tallied a game high eight points on seven goals and one assist to go along with 13 draw controls and two ground balls. In the setback against the Pride this past weekend, she amassed two more goals to bring her weekly total to nine goals and one assist.

Through the first two weeks of Kelly's collegiate career she sits in second place in the GNAC in goals (14) and 2nd in points with 17.

Kelly and Mount Ida are back on the road this coming Saturday when they travel to Little East Conference (LEC) opponent UMass Dartmouth with game time set for 1:00 PM against the Corsairs.
