WINTHROP, Mass. – For the third consecutive season, Mount Ida College women's lacrosse senior Amanda Bowen (Randolph, Vt.) was voted as a First Team All-Conference Selection by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.
The award comes at the end of a historic final campaign in which she led the conference with 67 goals and amassed 84 points, second in the league. During the 2015 season, Bowen became the all-time leading goal scorer in Mount Ida history and then went on to become the first Mount Ida lacrosse player, male or female, to reach the 200-goal plateau.
She did that on Senior Day, when she scored nine times to help Mount Ida beat Saint Joseph (CT) and secure the #5 seed in the GNAC tournament. That game followed a win over Becker in which Bowen tallied 10 goals and two assists to set a new program record with 12 points in a single game.
Since Bowen's freshman year, she has been recognized on numerous occasions, opening her career by being named GNAC Rookie of the Year. This year, during the month of April, Bowen was recognized again by both the GNAC and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Player of the Week for her two-game performance that saw her tally 20 goals and two assists.
In Bowen's four year career for Mount Ida, she has shattered program records that will most likely remain in the record books for years to come. Amanda has amassed career totals of 202 goals, 266 points, and 64 assists which are all tops in school history. She also holds the record for most assists in a season, which she set last year with 25 helpers.
