Bowen’s Record-Setting Week Earns Her Conference Accolades

WINTHROP, Mass. – In the final regular season week of her senior campaign, Mount Ida attack Amanda Bowen (Randolph, Vt.) had two historic games, and now she is being recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Bowen was named GNAC women's lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, earning the first weekly award by a Mustang women's lacrosse player this season.

In two games last week, both wins for the Mustangs, Bowen scored 20 goals and added two assists, along with eight ground balls and six draw controls.

She set the program record for points in a game and tied the school mark for goals in a game with a 10-goal, 2 assist performance to help the Mustangs beat Becker 19-13. On Saturday, with the team celebrating her as part of Senior Day, she scored nine more times to reach the 200-career goal mark and lead Mount Ida to a 20-11 win over University of Saint Joseph.

Bowen had already this season set the program record for career goals, and was the career leader in points and assists coming into her senior season.

The first Mount Ida lacrosse player to score 200 goals in a season, Bowen will have a chance to add to her total when the Mustangs make a return trip to the GNAC tournament on Wednesday.

Fifth seeded Mount Ida will travel to Emmanuel for a 7:00 pm game against the #4 seeded Saints.
