WOMEN'S LAX CRUSHES BLAZERS IN 21-0 SHUTOUT SATURDAY

Mount Ida College women's lacrosse freshman attacker Ebony Mills (Harrison, ME/Oxford Hills) scored a game high eight goals dishing out one assist en route to a 21-0 shutout victory over visiting non-conference Elms College Saturday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts.  The Mustangs capture their first victory of 2011 after dropping their first two bids of the year improving to an overall record of 1-2.  The Blazers remain winless at 0-2 with neither team yet to compete in conference competition.

The Mustangs dominated right out of the gate scoring 15 goals throughout the entire first half with Mills scoring three out of the first six goals.  Senior's Danielle Chuba (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) and Becky Tisbert (Cambridge, VT/Lamoille Union), and freshman Molly Sheppard (Brookhaven, NY/Bellport) tallied the other three with one a piece through the first 10 minutes.

The rest of the first half scoring was owned by the Mustangs coming from the sticks of Chuba, who tallied four more scores before the break.  Senior attacker Jen Thompson (Easton, MD/Easton) added three scores of her own while Mills added two giving the Mustangs a 15-0 lead heading into the midway point.

Mount Ida backed off a bit in the second half offensively only tallying six goals with three coming from Mills.  Senior Kira Feeter (Keene, NH/Keene) notched two of the six scores while freshman Kayla Bravo (East Providence, RI/East Providence) chalked up her first goal of her career finalizing the 21-0 blowout.

The Mustangs owned every statistical category for the game winning 18-22 faceoff's good for 18 draw controls.  The hosts converted 8 of 11 clears and picked up 38 groundballs to the visitors 10.  Mount Ida took 40 shots for the game.

Mount Ida freshman netminder Katherine Chousa (Norwood, MA/Norwood) didn't see much action denying two Blazer shots while visiting goaltender junior Annette Dzidek (Chicopee, MA/Chicopee) was very busy stopping 14 Mustang shots.

Senior Alexandria Sarno (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) and freshman Chelsea Marks (North Haven, CT/North Haven) each added three assists for Mount Ida.

The Mustangs will travel to non-conference Regis College (MA) this coming Monday in Weston, Massachusetts with game time slated for 7:00 p.m.
