Mount Ida senior guard Breanna Muir is one of eight student-athletes to earn a spot on the 2017-18 Division III Women’s Basketball Academic All-District team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Muir is now eligible for selection to the National Division III Academic All-America team that will be announced in mid-March.
A native of Wareham, Mass. and a graduate of Wareham High School, Muir has achieved a 3.99 cumulative grade point average as a Sport Management major, as she has earned just one grade below A+ during her matriculation at the College. On the hardcourt, the Mustangs’ co-captain set the school career assists mark (228) on February 10th against Emmanuel and ranked second on the team overall in scoring at 10.4 points per game on the year. Additionally, Breanna recorded a team-best 3.5 assists per contest and connected for 37 three-pointers in leading Head Coach Katie Greene’s squad to the second highest single-season win total (13) in school history and the program’s first post-season berth in six years this winter.
Muir is one of three Great Northeast Athletic Conference student-athletes named to the Women’s Basketball Academic All-District team, as she is joined by Saint Joseph’s (Maine) junior Kelsi McNamara and Emmanuel sophomore Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda. Breanna is bidding to become the first Academic All-America honoree in Mount Ida history.
