Mustangs Outgunned by Gators in 15-16 Opener

KEENE, N.H. -- Mount Ida College opened their 2015-16 women's basketball season on Friday evening at the Keene State College Tip-Off Tournament, but dropped a 76-48 decision to Sage College in the first round game.

The Mustangs will now face SUNY Cobleskill at 1:00 pm on Saturday in the tournament's consolation game.

Junior guard Katlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.) scored a team-high 14 points and junior center Angelique Martinez (Taunton, Mass.) had a game-high 16 rebounds, and missed a double-double by one point.

Brittany Crosby (Riverside, R.I.) added 12 points off the bench on 5-6 shooting, with six rebounds, while Imani Bumpus (W. Hartford, Conn.) and Breanna Muir (Wareham, Mass.) led the team with three assists apiece, with Bumpus adding three steals.

Sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY) tallied a team-best 18 points with eight rebounds to lead the Gators, while junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NYl) added 16 points with six steals. Schoff was 10-13 from the line, while handing out three assists with a steal.

Newcomers Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY) and Emily Parlsow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added 12 and 10 points, respectively in their collegiate debuts.

Sage and Keene State will square off at 3:00 pm for the tournament championship.
