Saturday, December 1, 2012 (Newton, Massachusetts) - Senior guard Evebonee Acosta (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists in a 76-32 non-conference victory over visiting Wheelock College Saturday afternoon at the Mount Ida College Athletic Center. The Mustangs led wire-to-wire holding the Wildcats to 13 points in the second half creating 36 visiting turnovers for the game. The hosts shot 44% from the floor as well.
Mount Ida captures their second straight victory improving to an overall record of 3-3 while Wheelock is still searching for their first W falling to 0-5.
Along with a solid performance from Acosta, the Mustangs saw three other players in double figures led by a game high 18 points from junior forward Abbey Fedigan (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) adding six rebounds and three steals respectively. Sophomore's Sierra Legge (Schodack Landing, NY/Maple Hill) and Allison O'Connor (Leominster, MA/Leominster) tallied 12 points each. Legge was outstanding all over the floor also chipping in five assists, seven boards and four steals.
For the visitors, the Wildcats saw a team-high nine points and nine rebounds from freshman forward Kelsey Becker (Hanover, MA/Notre Dame Academy). Senior guard Taylor Rogers (Essex, MA/Manchester Essex Regional) drained two three pointers during the contest for a total of six points adding two assists as well.
The Mustangs return to action this Tuesday evening against visiting non-league foe UMASS-Boston in a double header with the men's team with game time slated for 5:00 p.m.
