RAFUSE NOTCHES DOUBLE-DOUBLE, MUSTANGS WIN 63-55

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 (Nashua, New Hampshire) - Mount Ida College sophomore forward Jenn Rafuse (Brockton, MA/Brockton) recorded her first double-double of the season adding 10 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks in a 63-55 non-conference victory over hosting Daniel Webster College Wednesday evening.   Rafuse's 19 boards ranks third all-time in the record books for rebounds in a game.  The Mustangs improve to an overall record of 2-3 while the Eagles remain winless at 0-5 for the 2012/2013 season.

Along with a solid performance from Rafuse, Mount Ida was led by senior guard Evebonee Acosta (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) poured in a team high 22 points on 7-10 shooting adding nine boards and six assists.  Sophomore guard Allison O'Connor (Leominster, MA/Leominster) was also stellar with 17 points respectively.

For the Eagles, Vanessa Bosques (Windham, Conn.) notched a game-high 28 points and moved into third place on the Daniel Webster all-time scoring leader board.  Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, Conn.) posted 14 rebounds for the Eagles, adding seven points. Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) and Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, N.H.) notched six points each.

Mount Ida shot 54-percent in the first half and built a nine-point lead at the break (35-26). DWC chipped away over the opening seven minutes of the second and used a quick 5-0 spurt from Bosques to pull within two (42-40) with 13:41 to play.

DWC would stay within two after an England jumper with 11:21 left but a Rafuse jumper helped spark a steady 10-3 run over the next five minutes to extend the lead to nine after an Acosta jumper with 6:01 remaining and the Eagles pulled no closer than six down the stretch. Mount Ida finished shooting 44-percent from the field while DWC shot just 25-percent.

The Mustangs will return to action this Saturday with their first home game of the season against visiting Wheelock College in non-conference action with tip-off slated for 1:00 p.m.
