WOMEN'S HOOPS HALOED BY SAINTS 73-55 IN GNAC ACTION

Mount Ida College women's basketball junior transfer Shannon Wood (Gorham, ME/Bryant University) poured in a team high 20 points going 10-11 from the charity stripe in a tough Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss to hosting Emmanuel College 73-55 Saturday afternoon.  The Mustangs fall to an overall record of 7-15 and drop to 3-6 in the conference standings.

Mount Ida held tough keeping pace with the number one overall Saints through the first 10 minutes of the contest.  Emmanuel eventually turned up the offensive heat following a couple of misses by the Mustangs to pull away leading 42-21 at the midway point.

The second half was all Emmanuel building a game high 27 point lead throughout the second half and eventually capturing the 18 point GNAC victory to remain undefeated in conference play.

Along with a solid performance from Wood, Mustang junior Jelieen Rivera (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds while freshman forward Abbey Fedigan (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) added nine points.  Mount Ida junior Katie Morvan (Northbridge, MA/Northbridge) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 caroms.
