BOSTON, Mass. --  The Mount Ida men’s volleyball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match decision by identical 3-0 finals to host Wentworth in the opener and Johnson & Wales in the nightcap in contests played Saturday afternoon at Tansey Gymnasium.

 

Senior Colin Ritter (Feeding Hills, Mass.) recorded 13 kills, 16 set assists, four digs and a pair of service aces in Wentworth’s (21-9, 11-2 GNAC) 25-17, 25-16, 25-17 opening match triumph, as the Leopards received eight kills and four digs from freshman Kevin Devine (Charlotte, Vt.) along with six kills and three digs from sophomore Ryan Love (Gaithersburg, Md.).  Sophomore Augusto Rodriguez-Guerrios (Guaynabo, P.R.), added 21 set assists and five digs for the hosts, who received four set assists and three digs from senior Kevin McPeek (Bethlehem, Pa.).

 

Junior Brett Southworth (Orange, Conn.) notched seven kills and four digs in the opening setback for the Mustangs (12-17, 0-10 GNAC), who received six kills and a pair of digs from sophomore Kevin Vanderhorst (Lawrence, Mass.).  Sophomore Kevin Keohane (Jefferson, N.J.) collected 15 set assists and four digs in the lid-lifter for Mount Ida, which received a pair of kills from sophomore Andre Foster (Davis, Calif.) and a combined 12 digs from freshmen Isaac Reed (Keene, N.H.) and Tyler Dorfman (West Hartford, Conn.).

 

Junior Cameron Ponce (San Jose, Calif.) registered nine kills, 13 set assists and four digs in Johnson & Wales’ (14-13, 6-4 GNAC) 25-9, 25-14, 25-18 middle match victory, as the Wildcats also received five kills and three digs from senior Kanila Chang (Orlando, Fla.).  Sophomore Matt McCarthy (Millis, Mass.) added five kills as well for Johnson & Wales, which received 13 set assists and five digs from sophomore Endel Sanchez (East Hartford, Conn.).

 

Southworth posted six kills and seven digs in the nightcap setback for the Mustangs, who received four kills from Foster as well as three kills and seven digs from junior Nate Gyampo (Providence, R.I.).  Vanderhorst chipped in with three kills and four set assists for Mount Ida, which received 12 set assists and a pair of digs from Keohane along with two kills from Dorfman.

 

Mount Ida heads to Weston, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Regis in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Wentworth travels to Auburndale, Mass. next Saturday morning to square off with Lasell in a GNAC clash that begins at 11:00 a.m.  Johnson & Wales heads to Nashua, N.H. on Tuesday evening to take on Rivier in a GNAC match beginning at 7:00 p.m.
