HASTINGS NOTCHES 12 KILLS, MUSTANGS DROP THIRD STRAIGHT

Thursday, February 9, 2012 (Boston, Massachusetts) - The Mount Ida College men's volleyball team dropped their third straight loss to start the season and their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bid against hosting Wentworth Institute of Technology Thursday evening in Boston, Massachusetts falling 3-0 by scores of 16-25, 10-25, and 18-25. 

The Mustangs fall to an overall record of 0-3 and hand over their first league loss of the season standing at 0-1. 

Mount Ida was led offensively by junior hitter Spencer Hastings (Orlando, FL/Timber Creak) with 12 kills on 35 attempts also adding three digs.  Senior McCoy Arnoux (Brockton, MA/Brockton) and sophomore Nick Schibi (Torrington, CT/ O. Wolcott Regional Voc. Tech.) chipped in two kills each.  Junior libero Ricky Oliveira (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford) added five digs while senior setter Franklin McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) dished out 16 assists.

The Mustangs will welcome Wentworth next Wednesday night to campus for another league match-up with game time slated for 7:00 p.m.
