Alan Goggs named assistant coach of Northeastern women's soccer

BOSTON, Mass. – Alan Goggs, former associate head coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams at Mount Ida College, has made the move to Division 1.

Goggs was announced as the assistant coach of the Northeastern University women's soccer program by head coach Ashley Phillips on Monday afternoon.

He brings with him eight years of professional coaching experience, most recently his past two seasons with the Mustangs, where he was an integral part of all facets of the program, including team management, training, video analysis, scouting, fitness and development. Goggs assisted coaches Joe Campbell and Greg Hagan, worked with goalkeepers on both squads in practice and game preparation, and was the recruiting coordinator for the men's and women's programs.

"I am very pleased to add Alan Goggs to our Northeastern women's soccer staff," Phillips said. "Alan's drive, experience and knowledge will make him a key component on our staff. He will play an instrumental role in the development of our student-athletes both on and off the field and I am thrilled to welcome him to Northeastern."

A certified coach by both the English Football Association (FA) and the NSCAA, Goggs brings a wealth of soccer knowledge to the Huskies after playing and coaching in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Prior to his time at Mount Ida, Goggs served as the head coach and marketing manager of SFC New England in 2013, as well as the head coach for the boys JV team at Brookline High School in 2013-14.

Goggs also served as a coach and business development manager for the Pro Soccer Academy (UK) in 2012-13, during which time he created professional tactical and technical sessions that emulated professional European academies. In this role, Goggs trained, educated and mentored competitive U-18 players and helped create a marketing strategy to effectively grow the program.

Goggs also served as a head coach and marketing manager for Global Premier Soccer (USA) from 2010-12, and an assistant coach with Soccer Elite FA (UK) from 2010-11.

In his playing days, Goggs earned a place on the first team at the University of Portsmouth (UK), where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business studies in 2006. Goggs also earned a scholarship to play at Salem International (Division II) in West Virginia, and spent time with the Tonka United Select Team (Minnesota), the Kent County U-18 Select Team (UK), and the Swadelands Premier Team (UK) among others.
