WINTHROP, Mass. -- Mount Ida College sophomore goalkeeper Riley Ford (Guilderland, N.Y.) became the latest Mustang men's soccer player to be recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
Ford was named Corvias Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
The sophomore keeper earned wins in both of Mount Ida's home games this week, two thrilling contests against conference rivals. He made ten saves to help the Mustangs defeat Norwich University 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon, which clinched a top-four seed in the conference standings.
On Saturday, Ford allowed just one goal and made four saves, shutting out rival Lasell College for the final 88:00 of play to give Mount Ida the opportunity to come from behind and beat the Lasers 2-1, securing the #2 seed in the upcoming GNAC tournament.
Ford has a 9-4-1 record for the season and is fourth in the conference with 75 saves, and is earning the first GNAC recognition of his career with this weekly award.
Ford and the Mustangs will play their final regular season game on Wednesday at 3:30 pm at nearby Pine Manor College before hosting Lasell on Sunday, November 1st at 1:00 pm in the conference quarterfinal round.
