The Mount Ida College men's soccer team continues their woes with their sixth consecutive loss and their second in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) falling 4-1 against hosting Albertus Magnus College Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut. The Mustangs drop to 0-6, 0-2 in conference play.
Albertus took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal from junior forward Jamal Howard (West Haven, CT) as he finished a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Steven Zapata (Hamden, CT).
The Falcons went into halftime outshooting their opponents 16-2. Albertus would take the lead 2-0 off the leg of sophomore midfielder Steven Zapata (Hamden, CT) in the 59th minute of play as he finished a cross from sophomore forward Alphonse Buccitti (West Haven, CT).
Freshman midfielder Zach Campbell (East Haven, CT) found the back of the net in the 73rd minute on a blast from 35 yards away to make the score 3-0.
Mount Ida received it only offense of the day as senior defender Justin Murphy (Holbrook, MA/Blue Hills Regional) finished a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
The Falcons would score another goal on a rebound finish in the 88th minute off the leg of freshman forward Rafael Guillen (Bakersfield, CA) to make the score 4-1.
Albertus outshot their opponents 31-6 in the afternoon as they cruised to their sixth straight victory.
The Mustangs travel to non-conference Becker College this coming Tuesday night in Worcester, Massachusetts starting at 6:00 p.m.
