The Mount Ida College Men’s Soccer team hosted their
second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game against
Albertus Magnus College on a beautiful Saturday on campus. There
were five yellow cards distributed, including one to the coach of
Albertus for complaining about calls to the official.
The Mustangs got on the board first on a great cross by junior back
Brandon Chuba (Wallingford, CT/Mark T.
Sheehan) to the foot of goal machine forward
Adam Jensen (Boston, MA/Worcester
Academy/Northeastern). This would give Ida the 1-0
lead early in the match with 35:41 remaining in the first half.
Freshman Hayato Kanesaka (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern
Valley) would tack on another goal at the 3:30 mark
on an incredible shot in the upper left hand corner of the net, fed
by senior captain Greg Hagan (Weymouth,
MA/Weymouth). This would put the Mustangs up 2-0
going into the second half.
The Mustangs had another opportunity to make it 3-0 off a cross by
freshman Alex Pacitti (Sturbridge,
MA/Sturbridge) that Hagan put a great head ball on,
but Albertus goaltender Gerald O’Connor (Hamden, CT/Hamden)
made a great save.
The game would end in the first half on a score of 2-0 in a very
physical match where there were five yellow cards throughout the
whole match.
The Mustangs will stay home for a Tuesday match up against Johnson
and Wales University starting at 3:30 p.m.
