The Mount Ida College Men’s Soccer team hosted Becker
College today on a hot and humid afternoon. It was an extremely
physical game with three yellow cards given out during the contest.
The Hawks struck first with 19:44 left in the first half on a cross
from junior Samuel Adjei (Worcester, MA/North). Junior Dircilino
DeBrito (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford) volleyed it into the top
corner of the net to go up 1-0.
Mustangs junior Adam Jensen (Boston, MA/Worcester
Acd./Northeastern) had a great chance to tie it
rocketing one towards the net at the eight minute mark. But it was
quickly redirected by Hawks goaltender Aaron Fill (Ladner, BC/Delta
Secondary) on a tough save.
Mount Ida got on the board in the second half off a ricocheted
shot. Freshman midfielder Hayato Kanesaka (Old Tappan,
NJ/Northern Valley) gathered his own rebound and
poked it in behind the keeper for his second goal of the season to
tie the game at 1-1.
Becker took the lead back on a ball tucked into the right corner of
the net by Hawks junior Adjei making it 2-1. Junior Jason Gianatti
(Southington, CT/Southington) did the feeding for the assist.
There would be no other significant opportunities for the Mustangs,
they were handed their third loss of the season going into a tough
conference game this Saturday.
Ida goal keeper Brian Leighton (Tuner, ME/Leavitt
Area) had four saves and Hawks keeper Aaroon Fill had
eight.
The Mustangs will face a tough Albertus Magnus College team this
weekend in a conference match up at 3:15 pm on their home turf.
