The Mount Ida College Men's Soccer team traveled to Suffolk University this past Saturday for another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match up. They came home suffering their fourth loss in conference play making their record 8-6-2 overall, and 4-4-1 in the GNAC.
No one could find the net in the first half with the score locked at zero's, but the Rams finally got things rolling with a goal by Suffolk senior Marco D'Andrea (Belmont, MA) on a feed by Nick Celia (Hanson, MA) and Mario Dorado (Bay Islands, FL) making it 1-0 in the 67th minute.
Mount Ida would answer back with two goals of their own within eight minutes of each other, the first by junior Matt Gill (Winfield, KS/Winfield/Garden City C.C.) off a rebound. The second was by standout freshman, Hayato Kanesaka (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) off a through ball by outside midfielder, Carmelo Bello (Rocky Hill, CT/Rocky Hill) giving the Mustangs the 2-1 advantage in the 79th minute.
Suffolk would not go quietly scoring with under a minute left in the contest to deadlock the game at 2-2 on a goal by Pierre-Yves N'Goran (Abibjan, Ivory Coast) off a rebound to send the game into overtime.
It wouldn't be long until the Rams would seal the win with N'Goran's second goal of the game 41 second into the OT. It would be a cross by D'Andrea to give SU the 3-2 win sending MIC home with a tough loss.
Mustangs' goalkeeper Kevin DosSantos (Cumberland, RI/C.C.R.I.) would have five saves for Mount Ida.
Mount Ida will travel to St. Joseph's of Maine this Tuesday for their last regular season game starting at 3:00 p.m.
